Screening & Discussion of the film, “Same God”

  • Benedictine University, Goodwin Auditorium 5700 College Rd Lisle, IL 60532 USA (map)

Benedictine University will hold a screening on March 2nd of the acclaimed 2018 film Same God, which explores the firestorm that erupted in the life of Dr. Larycia Hawkins, a devout Christian and former professor at Wheaton College.

Background: On Sunday, February 28, 2016 DuPage United held an event “We the People - Know your Muslim Neighbor” kick-off to the year long DuPage United Solidarity Campaign. Over 850 people engaged in conversations between Muslims and non-Muslims as we shared our stories. Together we also listened to speakers including Dr. Larycia Hawkins. She was the Wheaton College professor, who had posted a photo of herself wearing a hijab on Facebook, accompanied by these words: "I love my Muslim neighbor because s/he deserves love by virtue of her/his human dignity….we worship the same God." The controversy over her actions—and her employer's response to them—exposed deep rifts among Christians over race, Islam, religious freedom, and politics.

COST: Admission is FREE but you need to reserve a seat at this link.
